In today's era of globalization, effective communication skills have become increasingly important in both professional and personal environments. Recognizing this need, the Regional Office of the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) for Papua, West Papua, and Maluku has introduced Papabaruku Go International, a program designed to encourage the use of foreign languages in daily workplace interactions and professional activities.

Program Overview

Papabaruku Go International is an initiative that promotes the practical use of foreign languages within the office environment. While English is prioritized as the primary language of communication, employees are also encouraged to use other foreign languages or regional languages in which they are proficient. The program aims to create an inclusive and supportive environment where language skills can be practiced and developed through daily interaction.

Objectives of the Program

The program has several key objectives:

  1. Expanding Foreign Language Knowledge
Employees are encouraged to improve their foreign-language abilities to better respond to the challenges of globalization, both in core business functions and in supporting activities.
  2. Enhancing Communication Soft Skills
Through regular language practice, employees can strengthen their communication skills, confidence, and interpersonal abilities.
  3. Identifying and Developing Hidden Talents
The program provides opportunities for employees to demonstrate and further develop their language capabilities, which may contribute to both personal and organizational growth.

Implementation Mechanism

To ensure smooth implementation, the program follows several guidelines:

  • Employees are encouraged to communicate in English during office hours, from 08:00 WIT to 17:00 WIT, on designated program days.
  • The use of foreign languages is limited to verbal communication and does not affect official documents, reports, or other work outputs produced by each division.
  • The program is currently implemented within the office area of the DJKN Regional Office for Papua, West Papua, and Maluku, located at GKN Papua, 7th Floor.
  • Employees are encouraged to communicate in accordance with their individual language proficiency levels. The use of supporting tools, such as online translation applications and dictionaries, is permitted to facilitate learning and communication.

Building a Culture of Continuous Learning

Papabaruku Go International is more than just a language program; it is a cultural initiative that promotes continuous learning, adaptability, and professional development. By encouraging employees to actively use foreign languages in daily interactions, the program helps create a workplace environment that is more prepared to engage with global developments and international stakeholders.

As expressed by the Change Agent Team, language is not merely something to be studied—it must also be used. Therefore, employees are encouraged not to fear making mistakes and to embrace every opportunity to practice and improve. Growth and progress begin with the willingness to try.

Through Papabaruku Go International, employees can strengthen their competencies, broaden their perspectives, and enhance their readiness to face the challenges of an increasingly interconnected world.
